You may remember, a few weeks back, when we begged all of y’all to donate to our Kickstarter Fund so we could make a documentary about the South Street Diner.
Thanks to support and generosity from friends, family and a few strangers, we hit our fundraising target and have been able to buy the uber-geeky equipment needed to film for 24 consecutive hours in a diner that’s less than 1,000 square feet. We tested out some of the new gear last weekend, when we conducted our first interview of the project (with a previous South Street Diner owner who has been involved in some capacity with the place for more than 25 years). We’re happy to report that we achieved better film and sound quality than ever before. And for that, we thank YOU!
But the real fun starts in just over a week, when we shoot at the diner itself. To enable us to take up as little space as possible while still getting non-shaky footage, we’ve bought ourselves the world-famous SteadiCam. This is a documentary filmmaker’s wet dream and I can’t believe we’re big enough equipment geeks to own one of these bad boys. To think, just over a year ago, the comparable piece of equipment we relied on was called StickCam and was built by Tom. Don’t remember the glory days of StickCam? Read more about it here, here and here.
In the meantime, check out this sexy male model showing off SteadiCam in action.

Tom would like you to know that yes, when he wears this vest he does feel like Officer Lewis from Robocop
